My magazine is aimed at people with Asian heritage or are interested in Asia itself. This means they are interested in the fashion, music and technology, so my magazine has to represent these traits. It needs to have a cool, stylish look and needs to be completely up-to-date.My magazine does this by conveying these traits through images used, like the image used of my model in the double-page spread. The pose my model uses, for example, connotes intelect and style.
The way these two images are composed, from my magazine and the person in the other music magazine have similarities and differences.
The postures are similar, but the person in my music magazine keeps neater look by sitting with their hands together while the person in the other magazine looks 'cooler' and more casual.
The photos are taken at different angles. The real music magazine's picture is taken from straight on, but mine is taken from about a 45 degree angle from the front. The distance is fairly similar, however.
Both of the subjects in the photos are lit well, their faces can be clearly seen, however the hair of the person in the real magazine photo shadows their eyes slightly, giving a sense of mysteriousness.
The costumes used in the photos are different: in my photo a clean look using a plain black t-shirt and jeans is used, while a more casual, whacky look is used in the real magazine photo.
These are representations of cool young people of Asian heritage. You are suggesting thoughtful, intellectual and stylish in a number of ways which you could explore a bit more.
